What is Eating Psychology Coaching?


Eating Psychology Coaching centers on the exciting new field of Mind Body Nutrition, which advances the practice of clinical nutrition by exploring the psychophysiology of how thoughts, feelings, and beliefs impact nutritional metabolism and health. It goes far beyond classical nutrition by focusing on the fascinating connections between brain, body, and behavior. Simply put, what we eat if only half of the story of good nutrition. The other half is who we are as eaters.

What is Mind Body Nutrition?

Mind Body Nutrition reveals how stress physiology, the relaxation response, breathing, awareness, pleasure, meal timing, and much more profoundly influence digestion, calorie burning, and nutrient assimilation. When combined with Dynamic Eating Psychology, it offers practical and results-oriented strategies for the most commonly seen eating challenges and health issues found in out current fast-paced culture.

Dynamic Eating Psychology is a positive, empowering, and transformational approach that's designed to discover the unique, fascinating, and ever-changing relationship we have with food. It sees our challenges with eating, weight, and health not as an indication that we're broken, but as beautiful opportunities to grow and evolve. 

Who can benefit from working with an Eating Psychology Coach?


Working with an Eating Psychology Coach is for everyone. It affirms that our relationship with food has important lessons to teach us if we choose to listen. And it recognizes that our challenges with eating, weight, and health are intimately connected to other primary life dimensions - relationship, family, work, sexuality, our search for meaning and fulfillment, and so much more.


Do I have to be able to meet in person?


Thanks to technology, you can choose to work with me IRL (in my office), via Skype, phone, FaceTime. And we can get creative about combining the different methods of connection, too. Ultimately, our meetings together will take place in whichever way works best for YOU.


What can I expect in our work together?


In our work together, I’ll bring practical, workable coaching techniques to eliminate the confusion and frustration that come from trying to sort through the conflicting messages we all receive around food, health, and body. Skills like nutrition, body-centered practices, and mind-body science are ones I’ll use as we approach your food and health challenges. We’ll explore your symptoms, unwanted habits, and behaviors that keep you playing small as doorways that lead to deeper understanding and acceptance of your one bold, brave, beautiful life. I’ll encourage you to get curious, to let go of judgement, and to learn to tap into your body’s innate wisdom. Your eating and health issues will become a place of exploration instead of restriction, and I’ll help you reach your goals through strategies that nourish.


Is there a particular diet you’ll have me follow?


It’s a fact that there is no *perfect, one-size-fits-all* way of eating, so in our work together, we will bring a sense of curiosity, play, and fun to the way you show up with food. We will look at your current eating style and adjust things like meal timing, eating speed, and macronutrient balance (without counting actual grams) if necessary. Remember, who you are as an eater is equally important as what you eat.


Does insurance cover wellness coaching?


Currently, most health insurance companies do not cover wellness coaching services. However, some do offer it as a covered benefit. Check with your particular company to see if wellness coaching is included in your plan. If it’s not covered, know that the investment you make in yourself by working with me will reap dividends that money cannot buy, and the ripple effect throughout your life and your circles of influence will be priceless, too.
